Do Social Media Giveaways Have to Announce Winners Publicly?

Do Giveaways on Social Media Have to Announce Winners?

Winner-Announcements-on-Social-Media

This question comes up a lot and it's one I think we all asked especially when we first started out in the contest entering hobby.

NO! They don't have to at all. Many will so they keep transparency but many also won't. You can check the rules of the giveaway to see if they say where they will announce winners and if it isn't mentioned you can always reach out and politely ask how winners will be announced.

Often times giveaway winners are contacted privately through their message inbox on the social media platform they entered on.

Sometimes winners are announced only in Stories which only last 24 hours and then they are gone.

Don't automatically assume that because you don't see a winners name posted that the giveaway is a scam, or no winner was picked. It's rare for that to happen, but not impossible. Some social media accounts have been outed for not actually picking any winners.

Using the save feature on Instagram is a great way to remember the giveaways you have entered and to check back for winners. You can always reach out and ask as well. But remember they are under no obligation to divulge that information to you.

Don't waste too much energy worrying about if they picked a winner. If you didn't get a winner message it wasn't you and its time to move on to the next giveaway!

Good luck in everything you enter!

Wishing You Good Luck!
